Ways to fight discrimination:

By Jackie Robinson:

1) Collegiate athletics had been haphazardly integrated for decades. At UCLA, for example, Robinson starred in baseball, football, basketball, track, tennis, golf, and swimming.

2) Fifty years ago, on April 18, 1946, Jackie Robinson broke organized baseball's color barrier with a characteristic bang, homering and scoring four runs in his historic first game for the Brooklyn Dodgers' top farm team. This anniversary will no doubt unleash a wave of media meditations, since it combines the two national pastimes of the American male intellectual: denouncing racism and waxing nostalgic over the Brooklyn Dodgers. Spike Lee is preparing The Jackie Robinson Saga, and I'm sure Stephen Jay Gould will favor us with his thoughts.

By Rosa Parks:

1) When she refused to give up her seat because it was a white passenger seat on a city bus, this is an event that is generally seen as the beginning of a decade-long battle against segregation which mobilized millions and won the support of workers all over the world.

Our government ensures human rights for the workers, we have the freedom of speech but in a limit, freedom of religion that every person from any religion can do his prayers, we also have women rights, and the trafficking is illegal in our country and the government make the best to stop this bad issue.

Giving people specially the workers they’re rights is good thing, so it’s keep our country safe for the citizens and tourists.

Culture Diversity Reflection

Culture Diversity Reflection
The Cultural Diversity course has learnt me to what it means to be culturally competent. Before this class I didn’t know the actual definition of cultural and linguistic competence. For me to become more culturally competent it requires me to be more knowledgeable and open to other culture’s beliefs and values. This class has taught me a lot about cultural diversity, and has started me on my journey of learning and becoming a more culturally competent person. Actually I enjoyed in all classes with our leader Mr. Gregory because we can easily understand him, he has good style to teach us and let us know about cultures.
It is so important for students to learn about culture diversity to communicate with people easily, to understand them culture to avoid the misunderstanding, and to can to live together. I think the best age to learn culture diversity for students in seven years old because this age can understand the people way. The most interesting thing I learnt is isms. If UAE government decided to have a Harmony day I suggest to be in winter because it is the good season to do something on it. We should celebrating in the desert because it's nice place to enjoy.
The good thing in the life when people understand each because they know about cultures and how to communicate together,

Slavery is an old bad thing that happening in our world, I saw the two videos I felt sorry for the slaves in somewhere, they thought that if they will get a number of dollars but after they arrive to this place they get shock that the contract with less salary, there are many places in world to do this thing specifically the rich countries. These hard workers have human rights and the rights should be given to them.

I build my house on www.slaveryfootprint.org and I got the result that 73 slavers work for me.

Exercise #8 part 1

I graduated from a Canadian school and i have already used these dimensions to make sure that i cooperate with other people from around the world, such as understanding that westerners have a low context culture and i understood that they always get to the point and action is taken appropriately. Also making sure that even as an Emirati, i have to treat all my classmates equally and understand that there is no high power distance between us therefore accepting their culture and understand that most of them come from an individualist society.

In school, if students wanted something to change therefore we would socially orientate by having a student council and we would all gather and share ideas and thoughts therefore we would come up with a change and uncertainty tolerating into achieving what we want as a collective society.

In weddings, some Emirati families try to mix the genders to be more civilized and globalized but most families like to stick to tradition due to religious beliefs or maybe because its less of a hassle to change.
