Ten Aspects of Cultural Diversity

These are the ten aspects of cultural diversity which we are going to concentrate on
in this course. 
1)   Download Popplet Lite (free app) from the App Store, and then make a Popplet like the diagram below. Put yourself in the center. Around yourself put the names of six people you know who are not Emirati. Fill in the boxes. What makes them different from you?
            

2) Define yourself as an Emirati. Write a short paragraph.
Example – I was born in Abu Dhabi and my nationality is Emirati. I’m 27 years old, I get married and I have Two children, I have graduated from ATI (ADNOC TECHNICAL INSTITUTE) In Diploma. I’m working in Gasco Company.
3)  Now, let’s complete the table below, based on our class discussion:

*The world population can be divided into 4 major races, namely white/Caucasian, Mongoloid/Asian, Negroid/Black and Australoid. This is based on a racial classification made by Carleton S. Coon in 1962.  There is no universally accepted classification for “race”, however, and its use has been under fire over the last few decades. The United Nations, in a 1950 statement, opted to “drop the term ‘race’ altogether and speak of “ethnic groups”.
